Istanbul To Cappadocia 2 Day Tour (Option 2 D)
Flight from Istanbul to Cappadocia
On the morning of the first day, you will be transported from your accommodation in Istanbul and continue on to the airport where you will catch your flight to Keyseri airport in Cappadocia.
The Land of Fairy Chimneys
Upon arrival, we will transport you from the airport and you will begin your North Cappadocia tour. On this tour you will explore some of the history of the region as well as visit a few of the best vantage points so that you can really take in the beauty of this unique place. The Open Air Museum is definitely the highlight of this tour as you will have the opportunity to wander among the ancient churches that were carved directly out of the stone fairy chimneys. Inside the churches, you can see beautiful frescoes that still retain their original luster. In 1984, the Open Air Museum was named a UNESCO World Heritage sight and was one of the first in all of Turkey.
The tour will continue on to vantage points such as the Goreme Esentepe and Pasabag. From the Esentepe, a incredible view of the lunar-like landscape can be seen. Pasabag, also known as the Valley of the Monks, contains some of the most extraordinary fairy chimneys, one being the often photographed three headed fairy chimney. On this tour you will also visits the towns of Avanos and the Devrent Valley. Avanos is know for pottery production that dates back to 3,000 BC and the Devrent Valley will give you yet another impressive view from the Three Beauties which overlooks the town of Urgup.
Your day will end in the late afternoon, Enjoy your free evening.
Optional: Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Flight
On day two of this tour you not only have time to explore South Cappadocia, there is also plenty of time for an optional Hot Air Balloon flight. This is the highlight of Cappadocia for many travelers and the ballooning adventure occurs early in the morning so that you are able to witness a magnificent sunrise while floating through the sky above the magnificent Cappadocia landscape. This early morning tour will cost extra.
The Underground City and Cappadocia Walking Tour
Whether you decide to partake in a ballooning adventure or not, this tour will begin in the late morning and you will have a chance to explore additional highlights of Cappadocia. On this day, the tour will visit the Rose Valley, Pigeon Valley, Love Valley, and Red Valley. It is fascinating to wander around these valleys which are all unique with their own character. Different colors and shapes scatter the landscape and provide for once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunities.
This tour will also take you an Underground City, of which there are many around this area of Cappadocia. During times of persecution, Christians made their homes, schools, and other public places beneath the earth that still remain in tact and fascinating to explore. The tour will then continue on to the Meskendir Valley where you will venture out on a 4km trek at your own pace. Here, you can wander along the Melendiz River before making your way to the final stop along this tour, Cavusin Valley, where the impressive Uchisar Castle can be found.
Return to Istanbul
Your tour will end in the late afternoon and you will have some time to rest before you are transfered back to the airport to catch your return flight to Istanbul. After your arrival to Istanbul, you will be transferred to your pre-arranged accommodation.
